Denzel’s Equalizer 3: A Worthy Watch.
I’d often feel tired right after watching most movies, especially the fictional kind.
But last Wednesday, it was different.
After watching Denzel Washington’s Equalizer 3, I came out feeling rejuvenated.
My favorite line, “I understand weakness, I understand pain, I understand death, and I understand suffering. Because of these people, I’m beginning to understand real peace.”
The whole movie got me thinking about how God’s people are doing in the entertainment industry.
On a rather different occasion, I also watched Jesus' Revolution the week before. My honest review? I couldn’t finish it. Half way the movie, I quit. It was so boring.
It didn’t come through for me as a clever way to share a message of love.
I’d rather watch The Chosen series 20 more times than go back and finish Jesus Revolution. I felt it was just too religious.
As far as I can remember, Jesus asked us to be cunning as a serpent, and humble as a dove (Matthew 10:16–23). I didn’t see much cunningness in Jesus' Revolution.
My point is, there’s a way actors and actresses should put on a non-religious hat, and walk into the chaotic entertainment industry kingdom-minded, and become the Jesus on set.
For me, Denzel’s Equalizer trio was love being preached. An example of a godly character on set. I saw integrity, empathy, and immense care for other people.
His character in the entire equalizer trio got me interested. Especially his love for books.
