Writing is a very simple craft.

It doesn’t need a million things to perform.

A pen and paper, that’s it. If you want to get fancy, then… a laptop.

Here are 7 reasons why I chose to go all in on writing this 2024.

1.] Simplicity

Needing only a pen and paper, or a phone, tablet, or a laptop. That’s it. You can write anywhere anytime. That simplicity vs the potential it has makes it a very attractive craft.

2.] Satisfying

Compared to 24 episodes of the Thrive 365 podcast I did last year, together with 10 YouTube videos, I’ve always come out of a writing session satisfied.

3.] Significance

There’s not any other thing that’s created a sense of significance after doing it, compared to writing. Whether that’s a podcast or a video. I’ve come out feeling responsible and a contributor of something significant to the world whenever I’ve posted or shared my work.

4.] Freedom

It’s like once I get this one thing out of the way, I am liberated to do other things. And the sense of freedom is beautiful, like a student dismissed from a boring class to go home, after being held back by a torturing class.

5.] Very Economic

You don’t need a camera or a microphone. Just your mind, a paper, and a pen. And that doesn’t cost a lot.

6.] Supports thinking

Writing creates clarity. Unprocessed thoughts are knitted together and find structure and form while writing. So relieving! Like the feeling you’d get right after cleaning your room. A clear mind gives room to thinking.

7.] Pays

Writing has made me all the money. Whether that’s 25,000 TZS, or 500,000 TZS ($10 to $199

Podcasts, videos, or designs have barely paid me.

8.] It’s associated with reading.

I love reading because I get to learn so many things, and in turn, have something to write about.

I read more when I write more. It’s like writing empties the cup, and reading fills it up.

That’s the reason I’m taking the writing for 365 days straight on medium challenge for this 2024. one article every day.

If you are considering whether to go all in on writing or not, see what’s in it for you, your goals, and how many of those 8 reasons apply for you. Then make a decision.
