11 Things I’m Grateful For In 2023.
1.] What I didn’t get to have
So many times, we want our way. But God knows if He lets us, we will self-destruct. So, I thank God for all the nos. Through those nos, it’s helped me know what’s worth going for.
2.] What I have
It’s quite easy to fight for what you don’t have. And blame it on the lack of. But, today, I want to thank God for what I do have. I know the number of times I’ve discarded what I have in 2023, in the name of it’s not enough. And that didn’t end well. It’s through what I have that He reaches out to touch the lives of others. I thank Him.
3.] Family
The people close to me are priceless. I might have tried to reach out to try and find love somewhere else overlooking those who already love me. But through my ups and downs, these people stood there. Such, I am grateful for.
4.] Health
God has kept me well, physically, mentally and emotionally. Should I have been exposed to illness this year, I wouldn't have been able to write. And you wouldn’t have been reading this. I am grateful for my health.
5.] Work
My God-given ability to craft words has served me well. I have been gifted with the ability to craft words of hope, of life. A weapon so powerful that when used well can build lives. I haven’t seen this gift with a clear set of eyes this year. But, as of now, I am grateful for it.
6.] For the spiritual leaders and voices above me
I don’t have it all figured out. In fact, I can’t. I thank God for those who are leading me toward my true path. These people I cannot repay.
7.] Me
In the midst of chaos I’ve held on. In confusion, I’ve held on. Not by my own strength of course but His’. So, I want to thank me for keeping on keeping on as He shapes me to who He sees in me.
8.] Life
It’s a gift to wake up every day. To breathe in and breathe out. I know there’s a why to it, but even before that. I want to thank God for the gift of life throughout 2023.
9.] My country: Tanzania.
To some, Being born in Tanzania feels like bad luck. I felt the same a few years back. But, this year, God has enlightened me to see more of the beauty of this gift. I am grateful.
10.] Brothers and sisters.
A community of those you share a belief with is gold, especially when life throws you enough pressures. Such people I thank God for. Their presence has often been a cushion through the cares of life. Even without them knowing.
11.] God
Last on the list doesn’t mean last in priority.
Words will fail me thanking God for being God. All I can say is Thank you.
